What is it about?

How do you care for others without neglecting yourself?

How do you stay present, calm, and compassionate under pressure?

Compassion fatigue doesn’t happen overnight. It builds quietly through emotional strain, unprocessed stress, and the belief that self-care comes last.

This module supports volunteers in developing inner awareness, mindfulness, and self-coaching skills to sustain wellbeing, resilience, and purpose both in service and in daily life.

What Is This Module About?

This is an Hybrid module combining 4 hours of face-to-face experiential learning and 2 hours of self-paced e-learning, designed to help volunteers care responsibly for themselves while supporting others.

You’ll learn to:

  • Recognise signs of compassion fatigue, burnout, and emotional overload

  • Practise mindfulness-based tools to regulate stress and respond calmly

  • Build a realistic, personalised self-care and reflection toolkit

This module reframes self-care not as indulgence, but as an essential responsibility for sustainable and ethical volunteering.

How This Course Makes a Difference

This module creates a safe, reflective space for volunteers to slow down, tune in, and develop skills to manage emotional strain with compassion and clarity. You’ll walk away with practical tools, renewed self-awareness, and the confidence to continue serving others without losing yourself in the process.
